Carbon Emissions
The world is our home. All the animals, mountains, forests, national parks, lakes and oceans are what makes this world so amazing. Everything in this world was created for a reason, and now it's all getting destroyed. People don't think about how big of a impact their trash can have on the environment. Day after day, more and more trash are being thrown on this earth.
There are so many ways people can help. It starts with you, and right now. Together, everyone can help improve the economy one step at a time. A little contribution from everyone can make a HUGE difference. It can all start with recycling. If you recycle, the plastic will be transformed into other products, instead of getting placed in the ocean and killing ocean animals causing them to sufficate and die.
Next time you are about to use a plastic cup, or plastic straw, think about the environment you are killing. There are different alternatives for everything. You can use a reusable cup, and a metal straw instead of using plastic and killing off bits of the environment. It might not seem like the plastic you just threw out will impact the world a whole lot, but imagine if the 7.7 billion people in the world did the same thing.
The environment is far from perfect. It is being ruined everyday due to all of the trash, and carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere.
As ABC News states, "Solutions to halt the ongoing damage are already available, such as using renewable energy, restoring ecosystems, doing regenerative farming and making transportation greener, experts say."
When you burn fossil fuels, like coal, oil, and natural gases, extra carbon is getting released into the atmosphere. Yes, nature does need carbon dioxide, but it isn't good for humans to breathe all of it in. By making the amount of carbon decrease, you can help by eating less meat, not buying as much stuff when you go shopping, and biking to work or school to prevent the gas from your car entering the air we breathe. By doing the littlest things can go a long way.
There has been over 555 gigatons of carbon that has been released into the atmosphere, on top of adding nine gigatons into the air per year doesn't help the environment improve.

Lauren, how would investing in satellites help with carbon emissions? The other suggestions make sense, but it's not clear to me from your blog how that would help. Is this individuals investing or the government?
ReplyDeleteI really like this piece, it has nice evidence and explains a lot. Do you know of any groups that are trying to solve these problems you were explaining? What are some things that people at home can easily do as well without having to go out a ton and have large groups of people to help them?
ReplyDeleteWould alternate types of energy such as wind turbines, biomass, geothermal, and hydro power, help our earth stay in tact and as healthy as possible?
ReplyDeleteYes, wind turbines don't release emissions, which means it doesn't pollute the air that we breathe. They also use less electricity that is generated from fossil fuels. Adding solar or hydro power would be the most beneficial.
DeleteSounds good! Maybe include more alternatives to harmful substances? Tell me more about what I can do about carbon emissions and other pollutions.
ReplyDelete"As days go on, more and more trash are being thrown on this earth."
ReplyDeleteread that three times over
I agree, I think its important the people are recycling and trying to lower these of carbon emissions. I liked your suggestions of how to reduce the amount the emissions/what people can do. How can larger companies help reduce the amount of plastic they use?
ReplyDeleteyou have very good information in here about plastic. When I clicked on this however, I expected it to be more about Carbon. Try to not get as sidetracked and if you do put a heading where you do to make it more organized. For carbon is there a carbon budget for how much carbon we can admit into our world? What will happen if people starting using renewable things and metal straws? Do you have any personal experience with this issue?
